Egmont Reception

In collaboration with Barbara Bendix Becker

The Egmont House in Vognmagergade was originally designed for Egmont by architect Alfred Cock-Clausen in 1934. This classical building has an impressive exterior which exudes a sense of grandeur.

To prioritize Egmont's publishing platforms – books, film, TV, magazines, games, and education – we decided to replace the typical reception setting with a community table that creates and informal reception area. The result is a combination of classic and modern, materials that respect the grandness of the building.

The original materials in the building were carefully selected, black marble on the outside and beautiful light travertine inside the reception, which continues the magnificent experience. The counter was previously a dark block in the room; however, refurbishing it with a light travertine now gives it an elegant sculptural quality. Small shields for the receptionists made in brass for cable storage accentuate the natural beauty of the stones.

To complete the beauty of the space we incorporated Fritz Hansen Grand Prix chairs made in various colors. The strong silhouettes contribute to the community table layout when placed side by side. To form a cohesive vision throughout the reception, we kept all textiles and furniture toned in a light palette.
