ChopChop

Sovino’s ambition was to create two restaurants right next to each other, with two different kitchens. ChopChop is inspired by fast food found at Asian food markets, with various small snacks, noodles and meals that can be shared amongst each other.

The interior was supposed to support and mimic the dining experience one would normally have at a market with the open kitchen, dimmed industrial lights and the raw warehouse feeling. A space where people are seated by long tables and benches to create a social dining experience with an Asian twist.

The materials were handpicked to create an industrial setting. A warm structured plaster finish, combined with leather and raw steel, provides the restaurant with a warm and raw interior. The custom-designed wine cabinets work as a room divider between ChopChop and Boathouse, who share the same entrance and create a unique experience for both restaurants.

The magnificent harbor front view was an important part of the vision for the restaurant. To make it visible to all guests, regardless of where they were seated, we designed a low mezzanine that not only ensured every table in the restaurant had an unobstructed view of the harbor, but also created a more dynamic and immersive dining experience for the guests, making all seatings equally attractive.
